HOW TO BEST USE THE TAPE:
Study the area you are wanting to protect as this may help you more optimally install the tape. For example, if you see that bird always seem to approach from one direction, putting tape in the area of approach will be more effective.
USING STAKES IN THE GROUND: Use stakes with a hole in the top or make a hole in them. Space the stakes every 30 - 40cm and thread the tape through the holes and then tie it off. When attached to the stake the tape will stream out and rustle in the wind, which is most effective when you need to protect crops close to the ground.
POLE: Use smooth strong pole or any other suitable stake to vertically support the tape. Gather 12 or more lengths of tape, having first cut them 1/5 to 2/3rd the height of the support, then attach the cut lengths of tape to the top of the pole by winding the tape around the top off the pole and then twisting waterproof tape over the top to hold all in place. Sometimes it is advisable to cut a slot in the top of the pole and slip the tape down in the slot then twist and encapsulate with waterproof tape.
WRAP: for orchards wrap the tree, by spiraling the tree with tape from top to bottom. You can also make a pole as described above and then put the pole above the tree top and attach it to the trunk of the tree.
STREAMERS: you can multiply the effect of the tape by attaching cross strips to main runners or attaching to branches. Simply cut 500mm lengths and tie to branches with waterproof tape.
WARNING
Only put the tape out at first bud and remove after harvest. If you leave the tape in place for too long it will no longer deter the birds.
