Hoof knives come in many different styles: these economy knives have a curved handle with a sharp hook at the end.
The most common purpose of the hoof knife is to shave the bottom of the horse’s foot. For ease of use it is recommended that the knife be kept very sharp for this purpose.
The economy knife is a good back-up knife, but for regular use, we recommend one of the higher quality hoof knives we list.
The double edge versions have a cutting blade on both edges but the edge is shorter on the opposite side if you like to rest your thumb on the blade during use on the dominant edge.
The knives are also available in a single edge version which tends to be preferred for dairy use.
